Description
A Very Important Principle
Protecting people’s lives, safety, and mental health is one of the basic requirements of the rule of law. This requirement covers protecting both the physical safety and psychological health of individuals. Personal security can be ensured by eliminating external and internal threats and eliminating all kinds of attempts and uncertainties that disturb the person’s peace in the legal sense.
If a person has committed a crime, the punishment for this person is determined only within the framework of the law and through the courts. Under the rule of law, a person cannot be sentenced to any punishment other than due process and cannot be constantly threatened by the same crime. This means there should not be a constant threat like “a sword of Damocles hanging over the head”.
One of the basic principles of law is that a person should not be tried for the same act a second time and should not be sentenced to punishments other than the sentence imposed. This principle is also known as “ne bis in idem” (not twice the same) and forms an important part of the rule of law. Thanks to this principle, the legal security of individuals is ensured, and arbitrary trials are prevented.
Hyenas of July 15
When hundreds of thousands of people were caught and imprisoned in the “Erdoğan Coup” on July 16, 2016, not a single one of them was guilty according to existing laws. Such a massacre was enforced under the conditions of a state of emergency (Erdoğan decelerated that) and ignoring the laws.
As a result, the militant prosecutors prepared indictments for “a crime” that did not exist, militant judges held a perfunctory trial, and the execution of harsh sentences was ever not within the framework of the law.
Prisons were turned into “dungeons”, which meant the figurative meaning of the prison.
A dungeon means a room or cell where prisoners are kept, especially underground, and is generally associated with Medieval Castles. It means places that are tyrannized.
In the period of Erdoğan in the dungeons of Turkey, we have seen all kinds of lawlessness and ill-treatment in conformity with the spirit of the dungeon concept. He unleashed his hyenas on us and tore our flesh to shreds.
The one who is the head of state and his officials who were his dogs were extremely cruel to us. While they recklessly presented all kinds of ill-treatment, even the DHKP-C, PKK, and ISIS prisoners held in the next wards took pity on us.
Does ever an “atheist” militant pray like that? “May God not put anyone in your situation!” I witnessed him doing so myself.
In addition to physical torture and torture, psychological torture methods were also used. One of these methods was to show propaganda films that insulted us and our thinking.
Even if a person’s brain were the size of a fig seed and his-her mind the size of a strand of hair, a conscientious person would never believe the so-called July 15 Coup in Turkey. (Through a finely tuned so-called military uprising on 15 July 2016, Erdoğan committed a massacre by making a real his coup on 16 July 2016). Feature films and documentaries on the so-called July 15 coup were made. The guards took us into groups of ten to watch these films and documentaries.
The Thief’s Dogs
Some time, a guard was taking our friends to the tank in a single file. We encountered them in one of the long corridors of the dungeon. I was at the front of our group, and I knew the guy at the front of the line coming from the other side. As I approached him, I slowed my steps and asked an ironical question in a low voice: “What’s up? From where?”
My friend said, “They took us to watch ‘The Thief’s Dogs’, that’s where we came from.” I was pretty down until then. But this message with the syntax “The Thief’s Dogs” given by my friend lifted my spirit a little. That is, even if they took to other propagandized films every day, these people who are travelers of the Way of Truth would never attend outlaw gangs, and they would go on walking their beliefs.
So, even if they took them to see a different propaganda film every day, these people who are on the path of truth would never join this gang of lawless people with oppression and propaganda and would continue to walk on the path they believe in, even at the cost of enduring a great many hardships.
This syntax of my friend revolved in my mind for days. Eventually it turned into a book idea. This idea emerged in novel form during the prison days. But it was not possible to write this novel. The captivity ended for me and while I was living a difficult life, semi-free, under the sword of Damocles again, I penned some articles.
I collected these articles, the content of which is per the phrase “Thieves’ Dogs”, under the same name. Indeed, defining the actions of this mob in question, who has ruined the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, as “theft” and their description as “dog” would be insufficient. However, out of respect for the reader, I have contented myself with this for now.
